Trail Angels

So, pick up my food drop at Mtn Hardware here in Wrightwood, and am handed this big binder of PCT hiker info to peruse. I am informed that there are a number of host families here in town and that I should call them--someone told me to give Bob and Maria a call, which I did, and to my great surprise, they offered me a place to stay. I walked up toward their house, and almost made it, but Bob was already driving down to pick me up. I was to be their 25th PCT hiker guest this season. Wonderful people who refused anysort of donation, and fed me like I was one of their own kids. They are a relatively recently retired couple who are avid hikers and involved with all sorts of community volunteer activities ranging from their church to the Forest Service performing archeological functions for the lone USFS Arch. there. On my way out, I hiked six miles with Bob on part of the PCT. I felt greatly blessed by this wonderful couple who go by 'bobcat' and 'wiseowl' in trail speak.
