I'm excited that I seem to have my trail legs now---32 miles in 10.5 hours (ok, so it was mostly downhill or flat...a little uphill at times), then about 27 miles the next day. Only trouble is as I've changed insoles and mucked about with how my shoes fit on my feet to alleviate the forefoot pain which is a huge relief(felt like I was without any padding in my forefoot-bone on the ground...not fun). To continue, I seemed to mitigate one problem only to create another, dampening my excitement of being able to tick off some good mileage. Blisters. A whole new family to accompany the new fit of my shoes---One on my Left 5th digit is almost like a degloving around the little toe--kind of reminded me of some partial thickness burn blistering I've seen...it's getting better. Then there are the two deep blisters on the soles of my feet behind the arches. I'm taking another full day off to allow these to heal a bit. Last time I had sole blisters, was running the '98 Imogene Pass Run when I sheered off the soles of both feet from mid-arch back...don't want a repeat.
Gruesome as all that sounds, it's really not that bad, just temporarily debilitating in a slight way.
Finished the San Bernardinos, and heading up into the San Gabriels. :)
