Mt. Laguna

I must say the journey so far has been a feast of natural beauty...from sage to chapparal, to the montaine like groves of Jeffrey pine and all of the associated fragrance. The wildflowers have been non stop wonder. Now, I'm up against a heat wave coming in for the next several days, and some long stretches without water sources (25,17,30,& 20 miles). Should be an adventure.
Although, things have so far been what I've expected from a physical and effort standpoint, it's always different being in the midst of a thing than thinking about it. I'm sore, blistered, and feeling the pain of the trail to be sure.
I've sussed out the pack weight issues today as much as I can for the time being at Laguna mtn. I jettisoned the bear vault, microfleece, chacos, and paper journal (I mailed it all to a place called 'hiker heaven'). This saved about six pounds.
The lemonade from the store here never tasted sooooooo gooood! It's an old school joint run by two brothers (Tom and John). The postoffice and store are all run from the same old structure--character.
ok, time to attend to draining some blisters and getting some sleep. Ten more days to get my trail legs swinging...more later.
